CTA CEO Gary Shapiro’s Epiphany Resonates with Executives at ECEF
At the Exhibition and Convention Executives Forum (ECEF), Consumer Technology Association (CTA™) President and CEO Gary Shapiro shared a recent epiphany. He had come to the realization that these times called for leaders to take a stand on the issues dividing our nation.
After a full day of quotable insights and revelations, Shapiro’s epiphany was most often cited as the favorite take-away of ECEF. Don Pazour, President and CEO, Access Intelligence, expressed it this way, “Business leaders must speak out!”
The audience shared their favorite take-aways via second-screen technology provided by PSAV. It even inspired the favorite take-away of Sacha Carey, Senior Director, Water Environment Federation, who wrote, “Really enjoyed the second screen and learning how it can add engagement to learning and content.”
In addition to offering up favorite take-aways, the second screen iPads were used for live polling, questions to speakers, taking notes, personal messaging, and accessing resources for a total of 2,395 interactions during the one-day event.
Although every session delivered memorable takeaways, an analysis showed that Shapiro generated the most popular ideas. Like several others, Susan Newman, Senior Vice President, National Retail Federation, took this from Shapiro: “Make room for and prioritize innovation in your tradeshow to keep it fresh and relevant!”
ECEF is produced by Lippman Connects. The 2019 event was held May 29 in Washington, D.C. The 2020 event will be held May 27 in Washington, D.C.
